I would love to have that just to show to co-workers and friends, just to see their reactions. I could see it being kind of nice to have if I really really needed multiple screens. But would never want to bring it anywhere unless it is staying in a hotel room for like a week and working (which I don’t have a job that would even give that situation to happen anyway). Still nice to see mobile workstations still have room for wild-ass designs like that. Kind of like how more smart phones used to have really wild selling points.

How hot does it get under load of stuff like Cyberpunk or similar programs? I am always jazzed to see high-end laptops, but I am aware of heat being a given. We get a lot of normies (or gamers that dip their toes into PC gaming) that have more money than sense just demanding the most powerful laptop. And they bring them in for us to check-out due to how hot they get. Some of it comes down to them not knowing how to stop all the programs from starting up with it and causing it to heat up from the jump even before launching a game or whatever. lol

True, but if the option to start using it isn’t there. Then it also won’t have data to even get started. I remember when I first started using Waze back on my Galaxy S3, it wasn’t super helpful (for both the traffic and in some cases the map data). This was mostly due to it not being used by many people in my state at the time (the friend that told me about it used it in a much larger city with more “tech” people around). So even if it doesn’t help me directly right away, I am more than happy to start using it daily to report what I can.

I haven’t heard of that one. Will look into it just to have options.

Good to see devs willing to do the work needed in order to draw hard lines on the capitalist leeches that divert money away from the project. I am looking forward to the traffic system that they mentioned as a future option. Would allow users that are okay with turning on those features for adding crowdsourced traffic data and stuff like marking cops posting up to get their quotas.

Literally the only thing that keeps me on Waze is that stuff. I have to deal with a lot of interstate travel to and from work and knowing that a big crash happened so I can re-route before getting stuck is crucial. I will still make sure to have this installed just like I had Organic Maps as a good option. And to see what stuff I go to that needs to be updated on OSM and StreetComplete. Had to add all of the addresses on my street on OSM a while ago just to be able to correctly enter my address. One of those addresses that is listed as one town for mailing and is technically within the borders of a smaller one with regards to utilities and plots of land.

For daily use of temps, I found it best to just switch my apps and stuff to use Celsius. Then just made a point to take mental notes as to see what the current temps were on my devices. Especially when it was feeling too hot or cold. On days that felt nice, would see what temps they were and just kind of learned what ranges were between them (I tend to find 16-23C to be fine warm temps).

I can’t say exactly what the temps in Fahrenheit directly. But can give a range for friends and co-workers if they happen to ask me what the temps are outside (they obviously take the Celsius value as not helpful but they know I am going to give them). I can say that for me the “exposure therapy” of just using Celsius has been much easier than things like distance. I can kind of handle thinking of static distances, but I am not able to translate active things like speed.

The fact that it all came from just brainstorming while baked on a podcast and then just doing the thing is what I respect about it. It didn’t need to be something that the majority of people would like. It stuck to the layout basically completely, and didn’t give a fuck. Was also cool that the actors really committed to the bit.

Does it have support for the P2P part of playing the videos? I know it can cause issues for data caps if it does. But if it doesn’t have that part, would love to see it show up in the settings to turn on and off to help share if on WiFi or if not on a cap. Would be great at least if running it on an Android based TV box to be able to not be a complete leech.

Just depends on if I am typing out notes that are basically the same and needing to get things closed at the last minute. lol

Since you at least know the layout. Typing of the Dead can be fun for forcing you to start using more fingers as things come at you. I needed to force myself to get better in order to make sure I could pass a timed typing speed and accuracy test for a data entry job. Played it a little every night for at least a week before my interview. I was still kind of slow, but was much more accurate. Which got me into a position that corrected or found missing information from the main data entry folks. If arcade zombie games aren’t your thing, there are some other good games mentioned in the other comments.

That one is what I thought of too. But I wonder what extra issues it would cause. If they are profiting off people uploading things that they don’t have the rights to (which I would imagine is still most of it), then it seems like it would be easier to go after reddit itself. Though I am only guessing and don’t know actual laws. The other issue is that porn is the thing that main stream sites that like to act like they are “clean” go after first. Which would mean a possible second mass exodus of users/traffic. Just like Verizon found out real fast when they tried to “clean up” Tumblr. Though I would guess reddit does have enough non-NSFW users and content to weather it much better.

Being fully transparent, I really only ever spend time on reddit when looking for such content since it is much safer from malware ads and fake links. Also better categorized for really specific interests with 4chan levels of daily users posting. Aside from that, I imagine that I will also be impacted by so many old threads that happen to have randomly crucial answers to very specific tech or misc (non-NSFW) problems I am dealing with. It is already very frustrating to get hit with their “You look sus and IP will be banned unless you sign in” warning screen if I happen to be not signed in and having all the ad/tracking blocking extensions and a VPN turned on.

One thing that bothers me about high level devs just leaving because they realized what they created. Is that them leaving means one more possible road block is just gone. They will just be replaced with people that are more fresh faced and on the hype train of going harder and harder. Lots of folks I know that are finishing college are just leaning more and more into just using all of these AI to solve problems instead of learning to code (or just write things) themselves. Some are still trying and I support them in my little ways, but I can see how much like a drug things start small and can turn into just using it all the time. Comp Sci majors were already getting worse in their actual understanding of how things work before LLMs (just look at all the things that will never be optimized and just rely on higher spec PCs).

I want a new Blu-ray format but with the size of Laserdisc. Vinyl coming back into style shows that a large disc doesn’t matter if playing at home. Would be fun to have the Laserdisc vibe for movies and even whole seasons of TV using the tech of Blu-ray. Just think of how much uncompressed media could fit on something that size! It has no chance of happening of course, but Laserdiscs look sick. I loved when teachers would show educational stuff on them and see the size of those things. I plan to get a player sometime if I have the spare funds, but I did get Aliens on LD just to have and show off.

Not a player of the SSB games. But I would love a straight clone of Double Dash keeping the specific physics of things and simple kart choices like they had. The love of the way things worked and feel for that are on par with how SSDM fans love that game!

Was kind of mind blowing moment when I was old enough to pay attention to the main underlying plot line of Who Framed Rodger Rabbit being about killing off public transport for cars. Like it is very clearly stated throughout the movie, but as a child it just went over my head. Not like I didn’t pay attention to when it was being talked about, just not able to appreciate the meaning. I also am from a more rural area, so things like public transportation were not something I interacted with outside of seeing it on TV shows and movies.

Same, was sad to see it wasn’t getting updated. Even wanted to donate to it, but the links all just went in a circle. Was hoping that someone might fork it into something active again.

What we are constantly bombarded with in the capitalist hype train bubble is fucked. Just watching so many corps tripping over themselves to force shit into things that really and truly don’t need (or in shit like health insurance to auto-deny life saving care) is maddening. It is being used without concern over if it is even more than alpha stage. Just like how we see stuff like the games industry just launching games broken as hell as if they are completed and for full price. The stealing of work is very much in-line with capitalism, just as it always has been with regards to physical resources.

But it can have benefits beyond the above stated bubble cashing in and out. It could be very useful in socialist/communist nations. That is because under those systems, the ownership would be collective and benefits shared right back to everyone. But should be carefully applied and not for profits over lives. So really such advancements would make more sense in socialist/communist settings.

Also places like China actually do apply the death penalty to greedy leaders of companies. Which helps compared to the US and other capitalist nations that place those same greedy leaders on pedestals beyond true punishments.
