Certainly when YT said selfhosting is harmfull, it’s only for their business modell, but if creators create their own pages with their work, it’s not really a solution, it will be interesting only for direct fans.

The little bot in the article never be apable to wash your dishes, climb stairs or serve you an beer from the fridge. Robots made for one specific task, certainly can have a design specific for it, there isn’t needed an humanoid design.

It’s not so easy to answer if piracy is ethical, depends of the context. It’s not the same soft from a shady company and from a small dev team or startup. Anyway, due to the overhelming amount of free alternatives, piracy in most of the cases isn’t necessary. I’m using an PC since almost 30 years now and never had the need to piracy an soft or pay for it. There are tons of free and OpenSource soft and services out ther, often better as the commercial ones, giveaway campaigns in games (Steam, Itch.io, DigiPen and others are full of good free games) and soft, free music (Bandcamp, Pixelfed, FMA,), etc. only needs to search a little.

Ad free, it makes money with premium features, like collaboration tools and video chats.

It must be blocked immediately from Mastodon and others.

Android is an (not so heavy) modified distro, but in it’s stock version full of Google APIs and tracking crap. Android as such is FOSS and forkeable, in rooted phones it can be changed to de.googled Android and also to some dedicated Linux distros (Ubuntu, Linage and some others).
Zerush@lemmy.mlOPto Technology@lemmy.ml•Huawei launches HarmonyOS for PCs to rival Windows and macOS in the desktop market3·25 days agoYes, certainly, but a lot of users can’t use Linux for several reasons.
- certain Professionals
- Users which need to use dedicated Companysoft for Work
- Gamers
- Impaired and Blind People, because of an crappy support on Linux.
Dual boot can be an solution, but also don’t make sense if the user have to use mostly Windows., with these the only solution is an OS compatible without the MS crap, as named before. Linux is certainly better in much aspects as Windows, but by far not in all.

It’s all described in the homepage. Another alternative is ReactOS. ReactOS™ is an Open Source effort to develop a quality operating system that is compatible with applications and drivers written for the Microsoft® Windows™ NT family of operating systems- There is also ReviOS, ReviOS aspires to re-create what Windows as an operating system should have been - easy and simple (also FOSS). All other OS are Linux, Unix or BSD distros, not natively compatible with Windows apps.
Zerush@lemmy.mlOPto Technology@lemmy.ml•Huawei launches HarmonyOS for PCs to rival Windows and macOS in the desktop market137·25 days agoThe difference is, that HarmonyOS is free to use, not so Windows or MacOS., when we excepted WindowsX, something like an de-microsofted Windows, which also is free to use. Not all people can or want to use Linux, eg.for accessbility, where Linux is far way behind Windows or MacOS. Well, the question is if a Chinese OS is more private than a US OS, this isn’t so clear currently, but alternatives and competition is always good for the user.

Only need to enter the URL of a Website and push Enter. Because of this it’s somewhat strange that an DDoS attac still works in modern websites after almost 20 years since is used.
