Still gotta be careful since some manufacturers have started auto-connecting to open access points when they detect them.

Wait… You want us to pay humans? - Every triple A gaming company since 2010.

Depends on who you trust and how willing you are to suffer radioactive contamination. Granted, it’s probably a better risk profile than say… Coal… But that doesn’t change the fact we have no good longterm plan to store any amount of radioactive waste, and if history is your teacher, a plan will most likely not come to fruition.

Hard to figure out a storage plan for an invisible poison seeping from a rock for the next 50,000 years.

It’s honestly disgraceful you’re that bitter you can’t see the good faith efforts that have been made.

Can they not request a fingerprint test?7·8 months agoFingerprints are fake science and not really admissible in court these days. You actually do share your fingerprint with other humans, at least on the scales we can measure it, and thus it’s unreliable. The only reason it works for phones/etc is that a 1 in 50,000 false positive rate is “good enough”.

US infrastructure has rapidly improved over the past few years, but we’re still a farcry from anything robust and reliable enough to serve the people benefiting from this type of content.

You send the “DRM” (Just a fancy encryption key) over the network since it’s relatively small and likely unique to each device (probably fingerprinting the device ids to the content invisibily in case of piracy).

It is a high risk job along the lines of coal mining and such, since it will result in an increase in transmitted disease risk. It’s important to acknowledge that, but I am on the side of it being work. I just think we need strong protections in place and regulations to handle it akin to other dangerous jobs. Like, a sex work branch of OSHA.
Ptsf@lemmy.worldto Linux Gaming@lemmy.ml•Could Microsoft destroy Linux gaming by using the windows store1·10 months agoNever underestimate the fleeting willpower of gamers in the face of exclusivity deals. It’s already captured a large section of the market (xbox consoles literally just run modified windows now) and will likely capture more. It’s all about adding enough of a marketing spin on it until the average gamer stops caring, or concedes the value proposition or their morals in favor of something they want more (like a next gen Skyrim reboot or something idk 🤷♂️)
