I am a die hard laptop/desktop person but the majority of my outside of work ‘computer’ time is on my phone these days :(

I suggest something where you get to work with a wide range of the populus. Opportunities are basically all service industry jobs: waiting tables in a restaurant, working retail, working in a hotel, etc. Learning how to interact with wide swaths of humans is an invaluable skill that will serve you well in your future professional career. I would focus on building social and emotional intelligence.

Does the grip extend beyond the edge of the frame? I admit to not having much experience with the iPhone photo app, but in Android land phones don’t usually know what to do if a portion of your hand is resting on the screen. When I use my cameras, my fingers are on the grip and my palm is on the back of the camera.

Re: people reacting differently, I carry around a dedicated camera fairly often when we’re doing family things. If I’m using a smaller lens no one pays me much attention. I’m projecting here, but the most frequent reaction is people trying to figure out what gear I’m using. I know I do that whenever I see anything I’m interested in. Humans are curious. I suspect they’ll be even more curious about what you’re working on since they’ll recognize the phone sticking out.

The exception is youth sports. I’ve become the official unofficial team photographer a few times now, meaning I share photos with the team. When team parents see me lining up a shot they’ll get out of the way. Amusingly, they’re often not actually in the way lol.

I looked for opened and closed requests containing comment and sort. I didn’t find one.

I don’t know about unuseable, but agree that it’s annoying that there’s no setting and the last value doesn’t appear to persist. Pop over to GitHub and write an issue?

Looks neat! What’s driving the concept? I don’t know that I’ve ever found my phone hard to handle and without an EVF or longer (heavier) lens I don’t know that I would want the grip over bringing my dedicated camera along for the ride.

Is the battery inside the grip? Have you considered powering it via the phone? You could also add a door to the other end of the grip.

Turning leftovers into fried rice generally results in one of my favorite foods. That’s not to say I don’t like more upscale options too, but man.

Largely agree with the others with one exception. Don’t put adhesive inside the channel. It will make future removal basically impossible.

Cut whatever adhesive you can see with a razor, slide the glass out of the channel, clean the channel and glass well, and then reinstall. Run a bead of silicone around the seam. It will be more than enough to hold the glass in place. That’s the same way stone countertops are installed - there usually isn’t glue between the countertop and the cabinets. The silicone/caulk beads are enough to hold it in place.

Things to keep in mind:

• it’s glass, so you’ll want to avoid bumping it into things. Put down thick towels/blankets in your work area and wherever you want to put it down. Be very wary of dinging the bottom on the floor/ceiling
• wear PPE. At a minimum leather shoes/boots, thicker pants that aren’t skin tight (no skinny jeans), long/heavy/baggy sleeves, leather work gloves, and safety glasses
• it’s going to be somewhat heavy. You could measure the panel size and plug it into an online calculator for a decent number. I suggest buying heavy duty suction cups that come with vacuum pumps. These will make moving the glass around a lot easier and they’re not that expensive

That was absolutely the case until very recently. Qualcomm bought Nuvia, a start-up that was stacked with former Apple engineers, a few years ago. These processors are just now coming to market. Laptops with these processors are benchmarking around MacBook levels (slightly behind single core, slightly ahead in multi core).

It’s very hard to argue against Apple hardware and battery life. Maybe with windows moving slowly toward ARM they’ll catch up some. It’s going to be very tough though - Apple has full control over their hardware, which meat they can optimize their OS for it.

I really hope the snapdragon x laptops gain some traction. I recently went laptop shopping and what I wanted (good to great display, stays cold, good battery life) line up really well with a MacBook/MB air. I just couldn’t stomach the stupid mark-ups for memory and storage. I wound up with a Lenovo 7x slim. Upgrading to 32 GB memory and 1 TB storage was around $115. The non-emulated performance on windows is solid. Emulated is generally ok for my usage. I’m probably going to try Linux on it when I have a light week, but I’m somewhat wary of the impact that will have on battery life.

My electric chainsaws and weed whacker always start. Eventually our lawn tractor will kick the bucket and I’ll either convert it to electric or buy one.
